The Basics

Famous for its natural beauty and culinary culture, Kangaroo Island is a popular South Australia vacation destination. While it’s possible to take in the highlights on a full-day tour from Adelaide, multi-day Kangaroo Island tours offer the chance to explore further afield. Most tours explore the island’s wildlife reserves and visit natural landmarks such as the Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch, and Vivonne Bay. It’s also possible to venture off-road on a Kangaroo Island 4WD tour or sample the island’s local produce on a food and wine tour.

Bus drivers were really friendly, they explained everything on our way. Kangaroo island was incredible, outstanding views, no network but you disconnect everything to relax your mind and body. Close to seal lions, kangaroo, wallabies, people, nature.

Small-Group Kangaroo Island 4WD Evening and Night Tour
We went for this trip with Luca and I can say it was a great experience. Luca is very knowledgeable and took us to the spots where we were able to see wild animals. His knowledge about KI is amazing and he was very professional. The car was very clean and Covid safe and he knew shortcuts in the wild which was a great drive.

The quad bikes were very clean, well maintained and the terrain is good for kids Who are 8 yr old. This was our first experience and I would say a great memorable one. Kids loved it and I guess every penny spent was with the experience. The host was amazing, Very knowledgeable, patient and safety of all of us was there first priority . I would definitely go back to do the quad bikes experience again.

Kangaroo Island Food and Wine Hop-on Hop-off Tour
Gary made our experience better than expected. A 5th generation local, his knowledge was appreciated. Whilst we were enjoying a winery lunch, he went for a walk and searched for some local wildlife - he found a koala up a nearby gumtree. We also stopped to watch an echidna wandering in the bush. Thanks Gary

When to Get There

Summer (December through February) is the most popular time to visit the island. This is also the best time to spot wildlife because it coincides with the breeding season. Due to mild year-round temperatures, it’s also possible to visit during winter to avoid crowds and find lower prices on tours and accommodations.

Wildlife on Kangaroo Island

Wildlife lovers will be in their element on Kangaroo Island, where a third of the land is designated as nature reserve and animal residents outnumber human ones. Admire the natural beauty of Flinders Chase National Park, walk the boardwalk at Seal Bay to see fur seals in their natural habitat, admire little penguins at Penneshaw Penguin Centre, visit the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park, or stop at Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary to spot koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, and cassowaries.
