The Basics

Most visitors opt to cruise in on a guided day or overnight tour from Hobart. Tours typically visit highlights such as the Cape Bruny Lighthouse, Mount Mangana rainforest, and Adventure Bay. Food tasting tours are also popular, with guides taking visitors to island hot spots such as the Bruny Island Cheese Company, Bruny Island Berry Farm, and other artisan producers. You’ll also stop at some of the best points for wildlife viewing.

My group of friends and I enjoyed the whole trip. Our guide, Mark, shared his extensive knowledge of the island in an interesting way. He made sure that we had enough time to take in and experience the beauty and uniqueness of the amazing places we visited. Visiting Bruny Island was definitely a highlight of our visit to Tasmania.

Bruny Island Day Tour, Includes Lunch and Exclusive Lighthouse Tour
Exciting day, full of fellow adventures of all ages & glad to see a touch of internationals - due to easing of covid restrictions. Highlights - lots of info, very well organised, great driver, variety of activities eg food related/short walks/lighthouse access, but the highlight was the scenery, & access to spots off the main road. Would highly recommend this trip. A great fun filled day, in a beautiful part of Tassie.

Bruny Island Traveller - Gourmet Tasting and Sightseeing Day Trip from Hobart
Showed us the best of Bruny with good commentary. Lunch was average. Distinct lack of acknowledgment of history, stories and voices of Indigenous peoples of Bruny. This really needs to be woven into the tour in a meaningful way as it is part of the story of Bruny.

Mark was an outstanding host and guide with a strong depth of historic knowledge. A real character with great humour and guest engagement….and love of sport! The island was quite stunning and must be done in winter. Beautiful scenery and not too far from Hobart. My wife and I and adult son had a sensational experience!!

When to Get There

The most popular time to visit Bruny Island is summer, when weather is warmer and all the island’s attractions are open. Tours, ferries, and accommodations can be more expensive at this time, however, especially over summer holidays (December to January), and advance bookings are advised. A winter visit can save money, and you’ll get many of the natural wonders to yourself, but check ahead that accommodations and attractions are open.
