The Basics

The view from the summit of Mt. Wellington is one of the highlights of a visit to Hobart, and it’s possible to hike or drive to the top. Guided tours often combine a photo stop on Mt. Wellington with other Hobart attractions, such as Richmond Historic Village, Tahune Airwalk, or Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary (where you can see Tasmanian devils). Adventurous types can also opt to hike the mountain; it's about a 3-hour hike to the summit lookout point.

Worth it
The commentary of the bus driver was very informative, he was also very nice.We enjoyed the drive up the mountain. We believe that the time that was spent in between the stops and up in the mountain and drive back to Hobart is reasonable. I highly recommend to anyone to do this tour in winter especially if you don’t want to take your car up in the mountain. We are locals but prefer to join the tour as we’re not sure of the driving conditions. Worth it. Thanks,

We were warned to hold onto our hats and glasses, I thought he was joking at first, but thankfully I took my glasses off prior to getting off - otherwise I think the wind would have wiped them clean off my face.

Day Tour in Mt. Field, Mt. Wellington, Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary and Richmond
From the moment we were met at the hotel I knew the trip would be great .Jarred, our host for the day was an excellent guide. Very informative and his first concern always was looking after his guests. Some of us were seniors and he was very caring. The day itself was fun and full of interest . The bus was comfortable and clean. I would not hesitate in recommending this trip. Just for you Jarred “It’s good to be the king”. Thanks for a great day mate.

Mt Wellington Ultimate Experience Tour from Hobart
We were picked up from our motel and stayed on the bus while Tim collected other passengers. He gave us commentary of Hobart until we started our scheduled trip. Tim was knowledgeable and gave us details of the scenery as we drove to the summit. On the summit he took photos of us. Paid a bit more than another trip, however being picked up from our motel in the cold was worth the extra dollars

Unfortunately we couldn’t go to the top of the mountain due to icy conditions. But we still saw some amazing views and our driver was amazing and so knowledgeable he improvised and took us to lots of different places. Was a great morning:)

Mt Wellington Tour and MONA Admission
5 stars for Mt Wellington and guide. 0 stars for overrated MONA. Natural beauty and wonder outclass the mediocrity of cheap “designed purely for shock value” type of art. Guide Tim (Gray Line) was an excellent guide from start to finish.
