Piazza del Colosseo, Rome, 00184

The Basics

As the second most popular attraction in Italy after only the Vatican, the Colosseum hosts some 4 million annual visitors, meaning that long lines are nearly inevitable without a skip-the-line tour. Choose from a number of tours suited to any age or interest, such as a Colosseum underground tour that heads beneath the arena floor to explore a network of passages; a small-group guided tour of the third tier; or a night tour that offers an eery experience and relief from the daytime heat. Consider group tours, self-guided audio tours, or private tours to gain an understanding of this well-preserved ancient Roman amphitheater and its historical importance.

Tickets Colosseum and Roman Forum with Multimedia Video
We had tickets for Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine hill, Vatican museum and Sistine chapel and I really recommend all of this iconic places. I just want to say that lady in tourist office was really friendly and help as a lot to plan how to visit all of these places, as we were really short with time and we travel with two babies and we had to make covid test before tours (she also help us with that), so without her help we wouldn't see all of these places :)
Great experience, history come alive!

Colosseum, Palatine Hill and Roman Forum Guided Tour | Skip the Line Tickets
We really enjoyed our tour with Zenda—it was incredible and so worth it to be able to go into the colosseum dungeons, which is the main reason we booked a tour, and to have someone help explain what it is we were looking at. The meeting instructions were a little out of date from pre-Covid and it would be worthwhile to update as we had some difficulty finding our tour, but we would definitely still recommend and enjoyed our experience. Thank you!
Great Tour of the Colosseum

VIP Colosseum Tour
We had a VIP small group tour of the Colosseum and it was incredible and well worth the price. Our guide was so knowledgeable providing a wealth of context and insight into what we were seeing which made the experience. The tour had to start a half hour later due to Covid restrictions and Viator kept us informed. I would highly recommend this tour.
I recommend this to everyone visiting Rome

Vatican and Colosseum Combo Tour: Don’t Wait in Line to See the Best of Rome
Elisabetta was PHENOMENAL. It’s our first trip post Covid and the family was totally impressed with the entire tour. Elisabetta’s knowledge was incredible. You would be lucky to have a Vatican tour with her. The afternoon tour was equally as perfect. The tour gave us insights into the Colosseum I did not know and I’ve been to Rome several times.
Amazing - don't miss the underground tour.

Small-Group Ancient Rome and Colosseum Underground Tour
Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and bought the experience to life. Small group meant everyone could keep together and easy to see to what the guide refered too. The underground your was amazing, we felt so privileged. We had done both colosseum and forum tour a few years ago but still learnt more.

Colosseum Underground by Night: Semi-Private Tour with Arena Floor
Unfortunately aviator sold this trip to us under false pretenses. It was listed as “Colosseum underground by night” but we didn’t go underground - therefore the tour was very similar to what we had done on the previous day (arena and upper levels. The guide Giuseppe was great (hence 5 stars) but I’m currently trying to get my money back from Viator.
Interesting After-Dark Tour Experience

Colosseum Underground by Night: Semi-Private Tour with Arena Floor
Very interesting tour! All 3 of us had been to the Colosseum on previous visits but we learned lots of new things and enjoyed seeing the underground “working” area. We were also surprised at the first 1/2 of the tour that included information about the area around the Colosseum. That was an unexpected bonus! Anna and Barbara were very informed, personable guides.
Interesting & informative tour

Colosseum Arena at Dusk Small Group
We were running late due to major traffic by our hotel & they worked with us for us to be able to join the tour still which was so nice & Our guide George shared so many interesting facts with us it was a great experience. The tour was the perfect amount of time 1-1.5 hours & right before the colosseum closed so we were able to see many areas almost empty which was cool.

When to Get There

Since the Colosseum is most crowded during the middle of the day, begin or end your Rome tour with a visit first thing in the morning or just before last entry (which is an hour before closing time) in the late afternoon. Alternatively, choose a night tour for a unique, less crowded experience. Summer is the most popular time of year to visit, while the site receives fewer crowds in November through February, aside from the Christmas and New Year holidays.
