A-Bike Rental & Tours - Rijksmuseum , Stadhouderskade 520, 1071 ZD Amsterdam, Netherlands

The meeting point is opposite the Rijksmuseum and just under the building of Stromma Canal Cruises (follow the signs). Tram 1,7 and 19 are stopping nearby. Or Metro 52 Vijzelsgracht (only 5 mins walking) Walk downstairs to 'A Bike rental'.

This activity will end right where it started.
Leave the bustle of the city behind on a countryside bike tour from Amsterdam. Your approximately 13.5- to 15-mile (22- to 25-kilometer) ride will take you the outskirts of the city and the countryside beyond, stopping along the way so your guide can share interesting anecdotes and background.

Your tour begins in central Amsterdam in the late morning, when your informative guide provides a brief introduction to Amsterdam’s history. Then, cycle through the bike-friendly city of Amsterdam, pedaling along narrow streets and canals and over beautiful bridges.

Slowly, your cityscape changes to tranquil pastures and peaceful waterways. Keep watch for colorful houseboats, as well as people fishing and rowing in the water.

At a local farmhouse, meet a farmer and enjoy some Dutch traditions: sample farm-produced cheese and watch a demonstration of how clogs are made. Stop at the iconic De Riekermolen windmill, one of only eight remaining authentic windmills in and around Amsterdam.

During your ride back to Amsterdam, cycle through some of the city’s parks including the lush Vondelpark, Amsterdam’s largest and most well-known park, and the woodland scenery of Amsterdamse Bos Park. Your tour ends in the afternoon.

Just seeing the country side is very cool. I wouldn’t have seen that part of the city otherwise. Also the cheese tour in the farm was cool.

Great tour! Not for beginning riders. The day was hot and stops were in the sun. Make sure you’re well hydrated beforehand. That said, great way to see life outside of the city! Beautiful countryside views and excellent stories. Adonis was amazingly kind and informative!

We had an amazing instructor from Greece, who shared his passion and love for Amsterdam with us! We recommend to do this at the start of your trip as he gives you great tips on where to go out and great activities to do! He showed us some beautiful spots and made us love Amsterdam even more!

We had a great time with Antonio. We loved biking, especially in the country and the clog/cheese demo was fun too. Antonio was very helpful, patient and insightful. I would definitely go on a tour with him as a guide again

Nice, enjoyable tour of Amsterdam esp. the parks in and around the city

Bike tour was generally lots of fun. Safety concerns however need to be better addressed by the company -- weaker cyclists should be either assisted more or actually told to register for an easier cycle. Amsterdam is not the easiest city to bicycle in as there are so many cyclists on the road, and as well traffic signals can be somewhat confusing if not used to them. Also, guide needs to have a first aid kit with him/her in case of any injuries.

Thanks for your review. We already added first aid kits in the bags of all our guides. And yes we ask everyone when booking if they have experience on the bike because of the distance and the busier parts in the city.

This experience couldn't be any better....it's a true highlight of our time in Amsterdam and we're so glad we were assigned to Mike (Female - short for Mica). She is hilarious, captivating and FUN. The bikes are fabulous, and the tour is energizing, inspiring, and EASY (no hills...not one!). We loved the urban park, and we loved hte countryside as well. The cheese and wooden shoes tour was perfect. We learned a lot, and had too much fun along the way. Don't miss out on this opportunity. I spend hours vetting my tour experiences - and my son said, "M0m, you CRUSHED this one." He loved it and I"ll venture to say our entire group was thrilled with their experience. And if you DO sign up...be sure to reuqest Mike!

It's wonderful to hear that we met your expectations. Mike is indeed knowledgeable, and as you rightly point out, she is also really funny and impressive. You also said that you enjoyed everything about the tour, which we much appreciate. We hope to see your group again.

I loved this tour, our guide was very knowledgeable and we learned so much about the history and construction of Amsterdam. The country side is magnificent, if you have a holster for your phone to put on the handlebars I would recommend it. We had varying abilities in our group but the guide had a good system and we all biked safely through the city.

Thank you for your wonderful review and for taking the time to provide feedback, Casey. Our top goal is customer service, and we are thrilled to have met it!

A great leisurely cycle ride through the parks, forest and countryside. Very scenic with stops along the way to enjoy the views and environment away from the busy center city. Cheese / Clog farm was an experience. Owner has his own unusual presentation involving jokes and comments. Harmless humor. Excellent cheeses to purchase and Clogs if you have room in your luggage. Our guide “Connie” was wonderful. Full of local information and guidance.

I am so pleased to see that you are happy with our service. We're proud to have local guides who are so well-informed and have such detailed stories and information on their own neighborhoods. Wishing you all the best!

Horrible organization

I booked this tour due to the positive reviews, but I believe the company has been purchased and the new operators were not professional and unresponsive when we encountered problems. Upon booking I was contacted by the tour operator and was given the suggestion to upgrade our experience to a private tour. I accepted and confirmed that they had kids bikes available as we would have 8 kids on the tour. The evening of the tour I contacted the operator to request that we change the time. He responded that there were others on our tour so we could not. I reminded him that we had switched to a private tour and from that point he disappeared and stopped answering any messages calls, texts, etc. On the morning of the tour, we did not have a private tour and there were NO kids bikes available. It was absolute chaos and there was no one to help. No one from the tour company was available on site. We ended up having to use a tandem bike to accommodate one kid, another kid had a broken bike that was very challenging to use, and others ended up using adult bikes (some that were too big and uncomfortable for use.) Thanks to the guide, Mikee, we were able to get going after 1 hour of working things out with the bike rental. She was extremely patient and did her best to help. The other 4 people on our tour ended up giving up and leaving the tour after getting frustrated waiting and realizing that it would just not work with so many people and such few bikes. Thanks to Mike we ended up having a wonderful tour, but I would definitely not use this company.
icon Response from Host , Jul 2022
Thanks for your review. It is good to know that we asked you to upgrade to a private tour but you never paid the extra, so you were still on the public tour. Next to that we are very clear that our bike tours are for kids of 12 years and older (see our terms when booking). This is because it is dangerous and the distances are too long for little kids. You arrived with 8 kids of 8 and 9 years old 🤷‍♂️. We tried to accomodate but we don’t have a lot of bikes for kids of 8-9 years old because we don’t offer tours for that age. Sorry to see that you did not see how we were trying to accomodate you. People in the bike rental and our guide are from our company, so we were there the whole time. Also our guide took you two hours extra.

Biking was a lot of fun and a good way to see the country side! I was nervous, but the terrain is mostly flat and it wasn't very strenuous.
