Despite a little initial confusion with an operator's name quoted on the booking that some of the team did not recognise, we went out on an open boat in the lovely sunshine, around the canals, glad we were not in one of the bigger covered boats. Comfortable and great guide with some personal stories of his time in Amsterdam as a student and facts you would not find in a book! Pick up point was outside Anne Frank's house, so nice and central and easy to find. This was our first trip about an hour after arriving in Amsterdam city.

We had read a bit about the canals, but hearing more detail and seeing examples made them more memorable. The architecture along the canals is quietly elegant, with interesting adaptations to the environment and the times. Freddy and Tamsin were excellent guides, mixing explanations with amusing anecdotes and "quizzes" for the guests.
