Returns to original departure point
Make your own way to the marina in Cairns where you board your spacious 54-foot (16.5-meter) 2–masted schooner for the sailing excursion to Green Island, located on the Great Barrier Reef.

Sip a cup of complimentary tea or coffee and snack on fresh muffins and fruit as your vessel prepares for departure. Receive a safety briefing then perhaps assist the crew with hoisting the sails before relaxing and soaking up the scenery as you motor-sail to Green Island.

Green Island is a protected Marine National Park, topped with emerald rain forest and surrounded by white sandy beaches and magnificent coral reefs, the perfect place for snorkeling and scuba diving. If you plan to scuba dive (additional cost), complete your paperwork and site briefing during the journey over to the island so that you can hop in the water upon arrival.

Your captain moors the boat at Pinnacle Reef just offshore from Green Island. Hit the water and snorkel or dive among schools of tropical fish, turtles, giant clams, shells, starfish and sea anemones in this underwater paradise.

After a morning of snorkeling and scuba diving, a delicious buffet lunch is served onboard your boat before transferring by dinghy to Green Island. Relax on the beach or explore the island. Visit Marineland Melanesia to watch the crocodile feeding and see a variety of marine life up close.

After ample time on the Great Barrier Reef, sail back to Cairns (wind permitting). Enjoy a complimentary glass of wine with your tropical afternoon tea, a perfect way to end your day out on the reef.

This tour is perfect for all levels of water experience with instruction and in-water assistance provided.

An amazing experience

Great crew, really attentive. Various snacks are served during the trip and we had a real feast for lunch on board. Beautiful views and a good spot near Green Island to do snorkeling through corals and fish. The sailing boat experience on the ocean is amazing!

Every part of this experience was fantastic. From the moment you board the staff make sure you are comfortable make sure your safe and enjoying the day to the fullest. From the start everyone was offered sea sick tablets and sun screen for the trip out to Green Island. The trip out was done with a sail up. Then when we were out anchored just off Green Island the snorkelling was amazing with many guided trips out on the reef with their knowledgeable staff and safety at the forefront of how they operate the vessel. Lunch was an amazing spread of food and they cater to vegans and gluten free diets without dramas or even a glimpse of bother. After lunch we were taken on a tender over to Green Island and left to explore the island for an optional one or two hours. Once returning to the boat another snorkel is on offer before anchoring up and heading home for the day. The winds allowed us to have three sails up on the way back to the marina the way back included a glass of wine cheese and crackers and cake which was the icing on the cake of a magical day.

Very easy going and helpful group Although food isn’t their speciality probably take more notice when morning tea and afternoon tea comes out as the morning was forgotten and rushed out just as we were arriving back but apart from that very good experience.

Great crew on the yacht, hospitable and knowledgeable about the best spot to snorkel...we were able to see a chunk of beautiful corals and large fish. After which we land on the Green Island. Amazing island but stores were close when we got there. I could have given a 5 star if it not for a stormy weather.

An Absolutely amazing experience from start to finish! The crew were simply fantastic and made the day a very memorable one. Our captain was great. He was informative and made the entire trip fun. Our snorkel experience was incredible we saw stingrays and a turtle and loads of fish and we had a great tour of the reef. The breakfast and lunch was lovely and fresh, followed up with cheese and crackers with wine to enjoy our trip back to the mainland. I 100% recommend this tour and will definitely book again, if I return to Cairns!

The weather was perfect, being out on the water was relieving from the humidity on land. There was only 13 or so people which was awesome. They reversed the tour which suited us better! On Green Island, we went to the croc place (aka crocodile prison for the not-so nice crocs) and were in time to be the only 2 there for the feeding. The beach and waters were stunning and amazing with so little people there. Lunch did the job. Snorkelling was amazing!!! Saw a shark, a stingray, different coloured coral, colourful fishes and no jellyfish thankfully ! After everyone was back on board, we headed back but stopped for a while to enjoy a glass of wine, fruit and cake. It was so peaceful. Thanks to Jess, Matt and Scott for a great experience. Biggest regret is not asking them more questions about the reef, their experiences etc but I learned from it and annoyed all my other guides in Australia 😁

Thank you for your review, so glad to hear how much you enjoyed your trip! The crocodiles are truly a sight to see, and it also sounds like you saw some of the best marine life the reef has to offer. There is something so peaceful and beautiful about turning off the engine and sailing (or drifting, if there is no wind!) with a glass of wine and snacks – no better way to end the day. You’ll have to keep a list of all your questions and come back to ask us again 😊
