Very good tour

Enjoyable trip with the highlight being the train ride from Kuranda to Freshwater. I recommend the gold-class option which makes the journey quite relaxing as one is served drinks and canopies. Although the skyrail seemed a long journey it is broken up with a couple scenic stops en route. Not much to Kuranda apart from the opportunity to stretch the lags and pop into the local tavern. Quite a long day if you are staying in Port Douglas.

Everything. The train up, then the Skyrail down. Even though a couple of us don’t like heights. Gold class was wonderful. The service was exceptional.

Excellent day out
Denice_S
, May 2022
Excellent day out. Nice refreshing drink before your trip up to Kuranda. On board refreshments were very nice. Didn’t realise Kuranda was as big as it was, thought there would only be a few shops but had a full street lined with shops. Make sure you read the map before you continue up into the village, we missed a few things which was disappointing but entirely our fault. A few of the usual touristy stuff but quite a few nice shops as well. Spent a few dollars so had a good day. Sky rail back was excellent. A few stops on the way back if you want to get off and have a look around. The view coming back over the last hill n down into the station was spectacular.

Thank you for our great review! I am thrilled you had such a special day travelling up and back on the train and skyrail and spending great time in the little village in the rainforest. I am pleased you have so many precious memories to take home with you.

Fail!
Cathy_J
, May 2022
A terrible experience! We were firstly told that we would not be picked up at our hotel even though on the list and had to walk to another hotel. Get on the bus and travel to the train station. While there they announced that the train has broken down and that our trip was cancelled. 17 calls later, and text and NO reply from the company we used via Aviator and not response from Aviator as to a refund or what was going to happen next Standing around for an hour with no contact. It was the only trip we booked on our holiday and were gutted with the lack of responsibility and contact.
icon Response from Host , Jun 2022
We are very sorry for the short notice cancellation, the Kuranda Scenic Rail experienced unexpected mechanical issues creating the need to reorganise and reallocate buses. Thank you for your understanding once it was all sorted. I am so sorry for your inconvenience and your disappointment.

Gold class was a waste of money

What we Book was changed / overlooked and time changed to later pick up. Original Seat allocation was given away. By the time we arrived everything was closing in kuranda. Paying for Gold class was a waste of money
icon Response from Host , Apr 2022
Joseph, I am not sure of your actually booking date, but it sounds as if you may have had an operational issue that disrupted your day. I'm sorry that it didn't go to plan and that you were disappointed in what Gold Class had to offer.

Train and skyrail in one trip.
Nataliamacoboy
, Apr 2022
We liked the old fashioned train journey to Kuranda. Good service , beautiful scenery and spectacular photo stops. Kuranda is very touristy and mostly orientated to international travellers. This tour is very weather dependant. On the way back by Skyrail it was rainy and foggy which spoilt the views. Nevertheless, we explored rain forest on 2 stops on the way down to get the full rainforests experience.
icon Response from Host , Apr 2022
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review and a 5 star rating. We are pleased that your enjoyed your day, even though the weather wasn't at it's best for you. The journey up by train and home over the treetops and with stops to walk through the rainforest is truly memorable, isn't it.

Fab scenic train and skyrail

Great train ride up in Gold Class, they really looked after us and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The skyrail back gave spectacular views over the river and rain forest Not much in Kuranda - lots of tourist shops/market stalls selling tat, including croc skin and kangaroo skin items 😡

Great Experience but Beware the Coach Pick Up/ Drop off Schedule
peterstafford
, Mar 2022
Fantastic experience once you get to board the train and until you get off the sky rail at the end of the day. Unfortunately spoiled a bit by the long drawn out coach pick up and drop off. We were first on and last off and spent nearly 3 hours in total being driven around various Cairns hotels. Not how we wanted to spend our time. If we had known this in advance we would have made an alternative arrangement especially as the destination is only a short taxi ride from Cairns central. I recommend anyone doing this tour to check how long the coach pick up and drop off is before deciding what to do. Even better, the tour operator should be proactive and provide this information up front.

Gold class tail was lovely and the carriage attendant was not only serving food but making wisecracks as we travelled. The Skyrail cable car was amazing… especially the section just as you leave/ arrive at the Cairns end. Great memories.

Try and choose a cooler day
Karen_A
, Feb 2022
We chose to go Gold class on the scenic rail. It was more comfortable with comfortable chairs. They did supply endless wine, beer and non alcohol drinks. However at 10am in the morning the alcohol was not for us. They supply over microwaved snacks along the journey. The service is great humorous and informative. We were very hot ! Even hotter once at Kuranda. No one can rate Mother Nature !
icon Response from Host , Apr 2022
Thank you for your review of your tour. We did have exceptionally warm weather the day that you travelled, and I can understand your discomfort. I am pleased that you decided to spoil yourself with Gold Class. The Kuranda Scenic Train and Skyrail are amazing ways to be transported to Kuranda, aren't they.
