Return Details

Returns to original departure point
If you’re departing from Perth, your Rottnest Island day trip starts with the ferry ride along the Swan River, which takes you past luxurious homes and yacht clubs on the water. When you arrive in Fremantle, pick up more passengers; if you select the Fremantle option when booking, you’ll board the ferry here. Then speed across the Indian Ocean to reach the island. As you disembark from the ferry, pick up your included bike rental from the friendly crew.

Known to locals as Rotto, the island is beloved for its tranquil, relaxing environment, due largely to its no-cars-allowed policy. Explore the island independently; You might like to settle on one of the 20 bays and 63 secluded beaches or perhaps visit the iconic Wadjemup or Bathurst Lighthouses. Choose to visit attractions such as Lomas Cottage, Rottenest Island Museum or Pilot Boathouse. You might like to ride to the West End where you can stroll along the boardwalk admiring coastal views and lookout for seals at Cathedral Rocks and keep your eyes peeled for humback whales - late September - November. When you stop for breaks, make sure to keep your eyes open for quokkas, the local marsupials who call the island home.

Your trip ends with the return ferry ride to Fremantle or Perth.

It was a seamless experience to book the tour via viator. You just need to exchange your ticket at the booth and enjoy the rest of the day. Everything was perfect including the bike hire.

Beautiful Rottnest

We had the best day riding bikes around this gorgeous island and meeting the adorable quokkas. The ride was a little challenging in the heat, not much shade on the island, but the scenery more than made up for it! The ferry ride to/from Perth was enjoyable as well with free coffee and informative commentary in the morning and wine/beer tasting and live music on the afternoon return. Highly recommend this tour!

This was an amazing package. We booked many adventures through Viator and we were NOT disappointed with any of the trips. Every trip was great and well organised. We booked all our trips over the year before we went to Australia and it worked out superb. thank you.

Love this trip so much

Great ship. Great staff. Well organized. Good commentary. The experience itself is priceless. Kuokkas are so adorable. Love them so much. But I still did see some young European backpackers touch them. I know they are cute, but your hands might carry bacterias, I don’t think its allowed to feed or touch the animal. Kuokkas are so friendly, they allow you to take photos up close. That’s enough no? No need to pick them up and pat like your cat. lol. Really beautiful island. Love it!

Pick up time bug

The tour is great and worked well with ferry and bike rental. There was a pick up available, but it doesn't determine the pick up time correctly. In my case the ferry left Perth for Rottnest Island at 8:45 and pick up was confirmed for the same time. Had I waited for it, I would have missed the tour. Maybe someone can look into it.

Perfect location to find Quokkas

If you are planning to complete a round cycling of Rottnest Island, make sure your family are fit for that because you will need to cycle around the up & down hill with a distance of more than 10km. Obviously these 2 conditions didn't suit young children. I just did a short distant ride withcthe objective to find wild quokkas. We were lucky because it was easy to locate them as there was plenty of them. they are just everywhere. Everything was according to my expectation except the wheather. It was raining, but we still managed to enjoy the trip. View also very nice and I love it so much.

Best Day Ever

Was such an amazing day. We rode 10.5km around the island. Stopped many time to take photos of the most breathtaking coastal views. But the best experience was the Quokkas. So cute and timid, they are everywhere in the cafe and shop area, there is also a very friendly peacock. The staff are really helpful and super friendly. You really will love it.

A MUST DO

First time to Rottnest Island - lived up to expectations from reviews. We were a family of 4 and hired bikes for the day - we made it around the island but didn't allow for no drink stations on the opposite side of the Island. Would recommend if you intend on going around the entire island that you carry enough water. Great day and would go again next time in the State of WA.

A fabulous day on Rotto
Dawn K
, May 2019
Our day trip to Rotto all went perfectly. From the boarding of the boat at Perth Barrack St Jetty, the fabulous commentary, the coffee and muffins from the snack bar on board, and then the arrival at Rottnest and the bikes and the ride around the island. We did the longest loop (the orange one) and had a great time. We got back in time to have a bite to eat. We were sitting outside in the sunshine and I had my jam donut stolen by a pesky crow....I was guarding the donut but took my eye off it to look at the quokka under the table and the crow swooped! Beware! We laughed! Otherwise an awesome day of spectacular views and lots of quokkas.....they are adorable and so trusting. We highly recommend this day trip. We arrived back to Perth at 6pm as it was getting dark so good to see the city lights from the water. A memorable day.
