After morning pickup at select locations in Phoenix or Scottsdale, relax on your drive through the Sonora Desert, en route to some of the American Southwest's most beautiful highlights.

Your drive brings you through the expansive Sonoran Desert filled with the native saguaro cactus. The scenery begins to change as you increase in elevation and views of the cactus fade into pine trees. As you continue further into northern Arizona, travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff and from the highway, see the San Francisco Peaks among the seemingly endless Ponderosa Pine Forest, one of the largest contiguous forests of ponderosa pines in the world.

Williams is the first stop along the tour for a chance to experience Route 66, the iconic American highway steeped in rich tradition.

Your van climbs up to 6,000 feet (1,800 meters) before you reach your first stopping point in Grand Canyon National Park. Expect ample time to explore the features around the deepest and widest part of the canyon, which measures 277 miles (445 km) in length. Visit the El Tovar Hotel and Hopi House in Grand Canyon Village, multiple scenic lookout points along the East Rim Drive, and have time to shop, go for a walk, grab lunch (own expense), and visit cultural exhibits along the rim.

Your tour ends in the evening upon your return to your starting point in the Phoenix-Scottsdale area.

Amazing Trip to the Grand Canyon
Binh_N
, Oct 2021
I took my family to see the Grand Canyon for the first time. The trip and experience was priceless. One of the best trips and tours I’ve ever been on. Sam, our guide was amazing. He knew so much about the Canyon and took us to places that I wouldn’t have gone on our own. @Sam- thanks for the awesome experience to see Mother Nature at her finest. I will never forget this trip!!

It was a wonderful experience. Took a trip to Phoenix/Scottsdale with my best friend and her friend, she always wanted to see the Grand Canyon so we booked this tour. I didn’t really read the description but the additional stops were a wonderul surprise. Robert was great…his history lessons were a bit inaccurate but I will let that slide since he was a great tour guide. It was a long day, however a lot of stops for snacks and bathroom breaks! I recommend booking this trip second or third day visiting Phoenix with a day after to relax.

Visiting Route 66 was fun. Great sight seeing, just make sure your back at the bus on time. Dan was our tour guide. He was great. Extremely knowledgeable. We stopped at thrre places around the grand canyon, each stunning and unique. On the way back we hit some traffic but Dan kept us entertained with stories of the surrounding sites and some astrology since the stars were out.

Tracy was an excellent guide, and the entire experience was wonderful! The drive to the Canyon from Scottsdale was not only breathtaking, but informative as well. The breaks chosen along the way were well timed. Fun day!

Sam, our tour guide made the experience extra special. The “big reveal” will always be the most memorable experience of our trip. His expertise, stories, and general concern to make the trip as wonderful as possible, is to be commended!

Sam was our tour guide with Detours. He was excellent for the Grand Canyon being he used to be a guide into the Canyon. He made it fun with doing different activities and knew all the best places for photo shots. He knew when it was safe to go right up to the edge vs staying back. Really good time.

Experiencing the Canyon in the snow was unexpected. The weather was calling for rain but the snow was so much more fun.

The “Big Reveal” was for sure the highlight! We had never seen the canyon before and our tour guide, Sam, had us walk up to the canyon with our eyes closed and then counted to three so we all saw the canyon for the first time together! We were truly speechless. It was incredible. For sure would recommend this trip!

With every Grand Canyon tour, we have the pleasure of experiencing everyone's "Big Reveal" time and time again. That moment truly captivates what makes this National Park so Grand! Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with DETOURS. We hope to see you again sometime, there is plenty Southwest left to explore. Best, Nathan

A Great Way to Experience the Wonders of Arizona
Larry_L
, Oct 2021
Our tour guide/driver Diane was wonderfully pleasant and knowledgeable in her narrative of the sites and landscape throughout the trip. My family enjoyed the complete experience from the mode of transportation, highlighted by Diane's charismatic personality, to the breathtaking sites enjoyed at the Grand Canyon and along the route. What a great way to experience the wonders Arizona has to offer. Well done!!
