5-Day Italy Trip: Pompeii, Capri, Naples and Sorrento

This 5 day trip to the Amalfi coast was fantastic. Very well organized by Viator, GrayLine, and Carani. All their people were on time, polite, responsive, and knowledgable. The buses were new, clean, and had safe drivers. Even the rest stop was nice. Naples could be skipped, but Pompeii was fantastic, Sorrento was great we opted for the deluxe room and got a great view of the Bay of Naples and Capri, and Capri is all that it is advertised. At each location, the guides were good, but the assistants were the best. All details from buses, meals, hotels, sites, and ferries were all very well coordinated. We would definitely use these services again.

the capri overnight stay is a must. it really makes a difference between day trip and over night. the sorrento was great too, nice people around. naples was only a stopover.

Day one - The organisation of one day, two day and five day tours in Rome seemed very disorganised. Some activities on our five day itinerary such as a walking tour of old Naples just didn't happen due to lack of time and trying to fit in with Pompeii tours. When we complained we were told to take it up with the tour company. We then told the guide we thought he WAS the tour company but there was no acceptance of responsibility. Bistro lunch before Pompeii was just awful with cold food and a two hour wait in a restaurant where no one knew what we we getting for lunch or what quantities. After lunch we finally got to our 'day in Pompeii' which turned out to be a rushed hour and a half starting inexplicably in the gift shop where they were making cameos out of shells which no one had the slightest interest in. Things did improve after day one however - our female guide from Pompeii was excellent and helped us to settle into Sorrento. it was just magical for two nights and then onto Capri which we loved every minute of. Getting back on to the ferry to Naples however was a bit of a shambles with about four ferry loads all competing! However we appreciate there are lots of people to move. Pompeii was amazing and fabulous to see, with a very helpful English-speaking guide. All in all it wasn't bad but Viator could tighten up on a lot of the loose ends.

The guide Ann in Pompeii was not too informative. Also the tour of the different locations in Naples was omitted.

Disappointed in the guides on this trip. We just drove through Naples did not get our walking tour, no explanation. He was only interested in getting to lunch first. The Pompeii guide was self interested and gave little information.We were then left in Sorrento to do our own thing then went to Capri. Capri is highly recommended, but don't use this tour.

I hated this trip! Lunch before Pompeii completely inedible; hotel accommodations were more like 2 star than the 4 star we "upgraded" to. Liked the blue grotto on Capri but it should be done as a day trip. Felt stuck on an island for 2 nights. Save your money! Book a better experience on your own.

We truly enjoyed our tour or Pompeii, Sorrento and Capri. The extra free day in Sorrento and Capri allowed for enough downtime to explore the area on our own and at our own pace. I would give this tour 5 stars except the meals included on the first day and at the hotel in Sorrento were terrible, really barely edible. Additionally, we were assigned to a different hotel than the ones listed for the 4 star in Sorrento that were not within walking distance of the downtown area. This was a bit disappointing however the hotel did provide a free shuttle.

Pompeii guide was fantastic! Capri guide was great! Tour however did not hang together leaving the client to basically figure out where to go and what to do... no tour group feeling was created due to fact that different duration tours were combined...

The tour is 2 days of guided tours with 3 days by yuorself. The many bus transfers are chaotic and travellers had to transfer their luggage themselves from different buses and from the ferry. I booked the deluxe hotels and they were not good value for money. Ther Royal hotel in Sorrento gave me a room that was 10 feet x 10 feet with the view of another building and the Best WEstern gave me a room with the view of a wall and no working AC for a whole night and half a day. Will never book another extended tour on Viator again. Very dissappointed.

Really enjoyed the tour and trip. Such beautiful cities and loved how we were pretty much on our own. The last day back was a little rough with the amount of time to come back, was not prepared but really enjoyed the tour guides.
