Amalfi Coast Small-Group Day Trip from Rome Including Positano

This was my second time taking the Amalfi Coast trip from Rome. The first time was with a different tour company, but also booked through Viator. For this trip, when we arrived, the tour was overbooked by two people. We ended up being the last people to sit in the passenger van, but they were the seats all the way in the back of the van, so you did not actually have your own window to look out of. As a result, the tour guide said there was an additional car available, that we could have all to ourselves. This part was fantastic - it essentially was like having our own private driver on the Amalfi Coast. That said, the biggest let down was that because we were in a separate car, we did not go in the car with the tour guide so we didn't get any of the interesting information about the ride or the trip. It was a letdown for me, but also because my wife was with me and she had never been. It's hard to rate Amalfi too low on the scale because Amalfi and Positano especially are amazing, but it ended up being much less than it should have been. In addition, when you're paying almost $450 for two people, not having an actual tour guide is a big letdown because it should be such a big part of the experience and why you pay so much for the tour.

I was traveling to Rome in July and really wanted to venture out of the area and considered Florence (Tuscany) and Capri but decided to book a trip to the Amalfi Coast. I was so glad I did! Our tour guide was Rebecca who was absolutely wonderful. She took the time to answer everyone's questions & was so knowledgeable on the details of the area. My traveling had taken a toll on me and I was not feeling very well on this trip because of severe jetlag and some other health issues. I mentioned it to Rebecca and she took the time to look in on me a few times throughout the day, asking me if I was doing ok. I really appreciated that. The train ride was fun and it was not a long ride to Naples where we quickly boarded a nice air conditioned bus. The scenery was nothing short of spectacular. I appreciated the attention given to myself and other travelers and felt like it was overall a wonderful experience. I would strongly recommend that if you are prone to motion sickness to be prepared with Dramamine, as the hills are narrow and steep and the bus definitely rocks you around a lot. It is all well worth it for the experience. I mentioned to Rebecca that I was sorry I forgot to pick up a Lemon during my time in Positano. I really wanted to have a taste of the local famous fruit. I was so surprised at the end of the day when she gifted me with a beautiful & HUGE Amalfi lemon. It was so very sweet of her to do that. As someone who works in the hotel and hospitality industry, I am especially in tune with people who possess excellence in customer relations . During 3 short days in Rome, I encountered some of the rudest and most unpleasant shop keepers and restaurant workers. It was so unsettling that I was convinced that I will probably never return to Italy. Rebecca turned that all around & I really want to thank her and the organizers of this tour!! Gratzie Millie!!

Beware of this tour!!! Traffic jams from Naples all the way, which takes away most of your time in Positano and Amalfi coast. Otherwise well worth it.

Our guide was from the company Grayline - I Love Rome, and was unprofessional: 1 Our tour started half an hour late and all the guests were just standing there waiting at 7 am. The guide did not provide any explanation. 2 Always the latest to show up at the meeting points, guests had to wait for her to arrive even though we were all there already. Happened for every single meeting point. At Positano, she arrive just on time, and even said Wait, I have to go get a coffee first and then we'll go. That's outrageous. 3 Talked to the driver loudly throughout the drive there windy and narrow roads in our minivan 6 guests in total - very annoying and dangerous because the driver was obviously distracted. Overall, we did not feel like we were treated well in this tour, but the sights were indeed amazing.

We enjoyed every minute of this tour, from the bus ride to getting our feet wet on the beach. We had an amazing lunch in a lovely restaurant overlooking the sea. This is a MUST do while in Italy!

It was an amazing day! Fabio was such a wonderful tour guide! He did a wonderful job pointing out all of the highlights and providing us with a great amount of history as well. Highly Recommend!!!

The bus did not have proper air conditioning. The travel guide smelled awful and she could not be patient enough to wait until my daughters went to the bathroom when we got to Positano to take us to the beach. Not a good trip at all. These tour guides need to clean themselves better, especially in hot weather. Deodorant is not too expensive and it is a must. Every time she raised her arm we almost fainted since the hot air carried the smell all over the bus. Overall, all of our excursions in Italy were awful. Will never use Viator again and we travel every year!!!

Highly recommend this terrific, well-paced tour. Great day from start to finish! Our guide Antonella was fantastic. She was informative, organised and always on the lookout for the best vantage point for great photos. And our bus driver was amazing! Also, having been on a different tour with another company that used a bus the whole way to Naples, taking the train from Rome to Naples then a bus was a much better way to go.

Amalfi Coast and Positano were beautiful, worth going back - the weather was perfect on this September day! The six of us signed up for Small-Group experience with minivan max 10 people as indicated on trip itinerary. It ended up we had 22 people and bus. When I inquired about it the guide told me 22 is good, sometimes the tour has 36 people. Even though we enjoyed the places that we visited, it was not as advertised.
