This was, by far, my favorite tour. We got in before the crowds and our tour guide was knowledgeable and explained everything with such passion. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone.

Maria was fantastic and did a wonderful job on the tour. She hit all the highlights necessary and we had a really great experience. I don’t think you need more than a one-hour tour here, as I saw a bunch of options for three-hour tours! Afterwards, Maria offered to take anyone over to this other area (I can’t remember the name for the life of me) nearby with free entrance. Note that it does take more than an hour total because you have to wait for the exact time to get in with the group. I think meeting point to end was closer to 1.5 hours.

Very well organized tour. Great tour guide tour who seemed genuinely interested in us having a good experience. Highly recommend it.

This was the 4th booking I've made via Viator - all really good so far. However, my initial impression of the company running this tour was not favourable. The process of checking in was beyond chaotic. The tour guide was good but it was very scripted, no effort made to properly engage with different age groups within the group - our daughter (9) who is history mad was bored stiff and I think that sums it up particularly in such a spectacular venue. However, I appreciated the skip the line aspects and I think it was beneficial to have a tour , even little things like where to take the best photos are good as of course is the knowledge provided by the tour guide

Overall, this was still a great experience, though some parts at the end didn't meet our expectations. First, the Pros: Our guide was friendly and very knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. She did a great job keeping us in the shade whenever possible and getting our group water on a very hot day. She was great about keeping the group together while still giving them time to take pictures and fill water bottles, and she had a lot of interesting facts and great pictures to share. We had to wait a little longer than expected to enter the Colosseum but she filled the time well. After we entered, we were able to spend time on the arena floor before moving up to the general access floor, and it was wonderful to be able to experience the Colosseum from both perspectives. Now the Cons: we were expecting the tour to include skip-the-line access to the Roman Forum. For that reason, we stayed with the guide and exited the Colosseum and continued to the Forum. However, what actually happened was that the guide just walked us several minutes to the back entrance of the Roman Forum to "skip the line" by going to the less-crowded entrance. Once we entered the Forum, she left without pointing out anything of interest or providing any information on the Forum at all. We knew the Forum part would be independent, but we were expecting at least a quick introduction to the important sights. In retrospect, we would have left the tour at the Colosseum and not continued on to the Forum for two reasons: 1. there were a lot of interesting displays and things to see at the Colosseum that we missed by continuing the tour; we would rather have had the time to look more at the Colosseum first. and 2. because we entered the back of the Forum, we actually missed a lot of content at the Forum and on the hills and we did a lot of extra walking on a very hot day to find the entrances, rather than the exits, to where we wanted to go.

Our tour guide, Tiziana, was outstanding. She was funny, personable and full of insight. If you're in Rome during the summer, I would definitely suggest the early morning tour, as it gets hot very quickly! I would also recommend doing a Forum tour as well. We did not (although the Colosseum tour gave us entry into the Forum), and I feel we could have gotten much more out of the Forum had we had a tour guide with us too.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, very well spoken, and very pleasant. Even though we were in Italy during a heat wave, and it was unbearably crowded everywhere we went, this tour was definitely a highlight.

Tour guide was amazing and kept is the shade - great experience! Loved being on the floor - first thing in the am is the way to go in the summer.

A great hour and a half with Inga. Tour moved well through the crowds, walking through the Gate of Life was thrilling. Plenty of information and saw everything we wanted to see.
