Next, head for the Jewish Ghetto and Theatre of Pompey to see remains of ancient Roman structures as well as Rome's synagogue. Taste some of Rome's best pizza, as well as suppli—a traditional street food made by frying a ball of rice with tomatoes and mozzarella at its center.

Continue to the area known as Torre di Largo Argentina, where Julius Caesar was assassinated. Visit a nearby family-run gelateria to eat some of the city's best gelato. Hear how gelato is made from the shop's owner.

Learning about the Jewish Ghetto and how the idea of fried artichokes came about. Matteo was a great guide.

Great food tour

Matthew was wonderful. Not only was he very knowledgeable with food but also with the history of the area. My daughter had a food allergy to nuts and shellfish and he made certain that the food we tasted were safe for her to consume.

Amazing combo of foods and history

This is both a food and history tour. I absolutely loved the fact that we enjoyed ‘traditional’ foods (pizza and gelato), we also tried foods that I would have never known to order on a menu (suppli and fried artichoke)! I highly recommend this tour to all and any!

Our tour guide was very informative and went out of his way to make our tour the best! As we were the only couple to book the evening we booked, Our guide was so good I asked if he was doing another area food tour the 3rd day in Rome but he was doing same one we were on. Thank you to him

We did this tour on our first night in Rome, and it was a perfect way to explore the city and eat some unique foods at some very local spots that we would have never gone to otherwise. In fact, we went back to several of the spots. We loved this tour! Mattia was the perfect guide. We never felt rushed. We enjoyed his stories and history of the foods we ate. The tour was so much fun! I would highly recommend this tour.

Viewing Rome Through Food

We were very fortunate to have a private tour with Matthew. His knowledge was superb making the tour come to life. Our favorite stop was Rosceli's. The food stops were mediocre.

Such a great intro to Rome

We took this tour for a few reasons. We wanted to get to know Rome a little at the beginning of our trip, see some sights, get some insider stories and also eat some local food. Mattia delivered on all of the above in such a friendly and generous way. We will be recommending this to all our friends!

Perfect mix of food and trivia

Is it a city tour? No. Is it just tasting food then? Nope. It's a great mix of interesting trivia you wouldn't hear in other tours, all while leisurely walking around the city and tasting a _lot_ of different things you wouldn't even think about trying yourself. Kudos to our knowledgeable guide Mattia!
