Skip the Line: Dedicated Access to St Peter Basilica & official audioguide

It was easy to find the Viator representative, and the subsequent wait was very short. The whole experience was good.

Skipping the main line is worth it unless you don't mind queuing for well over an hour. The "Skip the queue line" still has a line but only had to wait 15 mins The audio app is easy to use and deliveries you the flexible to stop start and take photos all within the app.

Totally professional recommended to avoid long waiting time in the security. Friendly and worth the assistance provided.

In order to rent an Audio guide, you need to leave an ID as collateral. We were informed to return the audio guide to the same location we picked it up at before 1630 to get back your ID. At 1620 we returned to the spot we picked it up and were told by the old man there that we needed to return the guides to the satellite desk outside the Holy Doors upstairs. We went up to the desk and were told by the young guy there that we needed to return the guide to the desk downstairs around the corner where we just were. We told him the old guy told us to come upstairs to you. The young guy got on the phone and chatted and laughed with someone, hung up and told us that the ID will be here in 3 minutes. It was just before 1630. Meanwhile other people were turning in their devices and getting their IDs at the desk from the young guy. Every 10 minutes I asked where the IDs were and were told over and over 3 more minutes. Finally at 1650 the old guy from downstairs desk comes to the desk with my ID and laughs and says “sorry” sarcastically. This happened right under the portico of the holiest Basilica in the Roman Catholic Church. They didn’t care – they wouldn’t see us again - it left a bad taste in our mouths – Of all places.

The No-wait access worked perfectly and we literally walked right in saving us a two-hour wait otherwise. The audioguide in English was excellent and allowed us to pick and choose what elements we wished to see and hear about in any order. We did wish that the website would point out that there would be a 1 Euro charge for headsets if we didn't bring our own. We had accumulated a number of them on other tours (at no charge) and would certainly have brought one of those along if we had known. That small irritant aside, we certainly had no issues with the tour itself and were delighted that we booked it through Viator.

I have used Viator for several other tours and, in these other cases, "skip the line" really meant "skip the line". This visit was different but, in fairness, we went on a Sunday at 1 PM after a canonization service for 5 people. Unfortunately, this is the only opportunity we had. I would not have gone without the viator booking, but here are some things that happened. First, we couldn't get into the St. Peter's until after 1 PM, as entry was barred as people exited the service for 30 minutes. Second, we could not find the Vox Mundi people for about 15 minutes, but I suspect they were not able to set up exactly at 1 PM; therefore, we wandered around for a bit looking for them. Next, we stood in a 20-minutes "skip the line" to get an orange sticker, that put us in another 20-minute security line to get into the Basilica. Before going inside the building, we went to an outside location where audioguides were being distributed but were told the ones for English were inside. Inside, we got in another audioguide line only to find out it was not for our ticket and that we should go to the audioguide queue in the atrium outside the church. Here, we waited another 10 minutes but, as the line did not seem to be progressing, we gave up and went into the basilica without the audioguide. Finally, something you should know, is that the ticket only gets you into the basilica. Entry to the museum and the location of Peter's bones are an extra cost.

This was the best tour I've ever had. Much of it was due to our outstanding tour guide geo. I'd go on any tour, any where with her. The Vatican museums were stunning and I thought we saw just the right amount of everything. Having a private moment in the sistine chapel was worth every penny of the cost.

There literally was zero wait, you get right in! The audio guide was not the easiest. They didn’t tell you in advance that you needed to download an app, ad it wasn’t working due to slow service. The self guided tour is confusing as the paper is numbered but the sites are not. Some of it was a guessing game.

Words can't describe, you have to come and see it yourself. Unforgettable experience we all enjoyed it so much and remember forever. Thank you
