Wine Tour with Wine Tasting in Siena

Fabulous educational experience. Roberto is extremely passionate and knowledgeable. Started in the vineyard, learning all about the organic process of growing and maintaining the grapes. Next, inside to where the grapes are processed-spotless clean! Finally, into the area for wine tasting. We tasted four: two white and two red. Roberto was very interested in our reactions to the wine. An unbelievably delicious organic farm lunch was served. All help and partner, Naomi, were gracious. They are all so proud of their country and their profession. Beautiful experience.

Renato was a really interesting guide and explained how time consuming and complex making wine can be. The wine was great, the food was great, the tour was great. Highly recommend!!

My boyfriend and I traveled to La Lastra via moped on Saturday from Florence's city center. Upon arrival, we were greeted with warm smiles, Italian coffee and a few homemade pastries. We were the vineyard's only reservation for the day, so we lucked out with a private tour and tasting. Christian, the mastermind behind La Lastra, led us through the vineyard's grounds while educating us on the science behind farming organic wines and the complexities of wine maturation. Christian's values align with the vineyard's philosophy: Enviornment before business, people before brand and substance before shape. We were shown the vineyard's cellar before being taken into the tasting room where the real fun began. Christian explained the four wines we tasted in depth - their origins, flavors, smells and preferred pairings - before lunch was served. Lunch consisted of homemade riccota raviolis, lemon chicken, zucchini salad, cheese, oil and crackers. Each wine paired perfectly with each component of our meal. We were pleasantly surprised when dessert was served - homemade strawberry tart cake - accompanied by a delicious dessert wine. Our entire time at La Lastra was a dream. We couldn't have asked for a better tour and tasting. Christian's knowledge of and passion for wine is admirable. This was without a doubt the highlight of my Tuscany experience!
