  • Confirmation will be received at time of booking
  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • Food:
  • although there are two huts on our way where we can purchase some basic food (i.e. beans soup, meatballs, tea) we advise you to come prepared with a lunch pack from Sofia, because the programme today is rather tight and for sure we won’t have much time for a proper lunch.
  • Difficulty:
  • the hiking route is moderately arduous, with individual brief paths featuring steep inclines. Please bring along comfortable walking boots. Sandals and flip-flops are not accepted. Rain jacket might be useful in summer as heavy showers sometimes occur in the afternoons.
  • Kindly note, that availability of the tour depends on the weather conditions and the operation of the chairlift.
  • The terrain will be very wet and slippery and there will still be snow in the area. Walking in such conditions requires adequate equipment (good trekking boots, waterproof clothes and a warm layer beneath the jacket). The hike is demanding, so a good fitness level is also required. Keep in mind that some of the lakes may be covered in snow.
  • The tour can be canceled with a last minute notice (100% refund will be applied) due to harsh conditions or closure of the chairlift.
  • Near public transportation
  • Not recommended for travelers with back problems
  • Not recommended for pregnant travelers
  • No heart problems or other serious medical conditions
  • Important
  • As with all lifts the one, used for the hike to The Seven Rila Lakes, may halt operations (due to strong winds, power cuts etc.). In this unlikely event, an alternative hike will be offered on spot by the guide. Mind that such a situation does not make you eligible for a refund for the tour.
  • Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level
  • This tour/activity will have a maximum of 15 travelers

Highly recommend!

Incredible experience! The hike around the Seven Lakes was terrific…amazing views and great insight from the tour guide. I really enjoyed visiting the Monastery as well. It’s a busy day but worth it if you want to see it all! Bring plenty of snacks!
Reliable operator and perfect place

Very professional tour operator and guides. They are reliable. I did two tours with them and they never failed me. Very good value for money.

Amazing day

I loved this tour. Our guide Georgi was very friendly and nice. We were able to see all the lakes and have a picnic before going to the Rila monastery. To save some money on the tour I would recommend booking the self guided option as it is cheaper and both the hike and the monastery are easy to do on your own, although having a guide was also fun

Do not book in advance!

I made the mistake of booking this tour in advance. The day before it was scheduled, I checked the weather for Rila Lakes and there was 100% chance of thunderstorms during the time the hike was scheduled. I called the tour and they would not let me cancel. I didn't feel it was worth risking the danger of high altitude + lightning, so I ate the cost and did not go. I did get to go on the hike, with a different tour provider, a couple weeks later when the weather was rainy but not thunderstorms. It's a lovely hike, but I would not recommend going with this tour provider, especially not to book and prepay. There are plenty of trips to Rila Lakes available from Sofia - wait and see how the weather is; don't book in advance.

Our company greately enjoyed themselves with the experience hiking through Rila. We are very thankful to our guide Vasko for being patient with us and teaching us about the history of the area. Even with one of us returning the wrong way, he was patient and understanding. I will definitely refer this guid to others and choose it when I bring more of my friends to Bulgaria.

The experience is amazing, highly recommend to go with a guider particularly you go the first time, quite a bit hiking and hard walking
