Great food and great views

The food was exquisite as was the view. We found the venue to be a little cold on one of the coldest nights of the year so we sat with our coats on. The service, while attentive, seemed to lack some of the pizzazz which should accompany such wonderful food but perhaps we are being unfair. My wife remarked that she likes being looked after by one person while the food was delivered by several different people.

The complete experience. What superb views of Sydney. We booked at 6.30pm so we saw Sydney by day, sunset and night- Perfect. Our waitress was extremely polite and helpful. We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary there and what a way to do it.

Disappointing

The 2 course voucher only pays for either a tiny starter or dessert plus a small basic main with no vegetables eg two small slices of duck breast and two tiny baby tomatoes. Veg are extra at $9 a portion and steaks are anything up to an additional $45. Think this should be stated at time of purchase. Views are excellent but many windows have blown glass so you have to wait for a clear one to take photos. Dress code not adhered to as men in shorts and beach shoes on table along from us. Overall disappointing.

A bit disappointing

Food was average, poor furniture and overall apearence of the place. Nice waitress and waiter, nice receptionist downstairs stairs. Good surprise having a glass of house wine included in the ticket. Toilete in horrible condition, rubbish bin overflowing and smelling urine. Water instead of liquid soap container. If you are lucky and get a bright and clear day the views probably will be worthy.

Great View, very poor food portions.

Really a great view of the city, as you would expect, and a great way to spend a few hours. As for the food, what a joke. We were served a "5 course meal", designed for a tea party for dolls. Seriously, the portions for each course were serving sizes about the size of an Australian .50 coin. I was even stupid enough to upgrade to beef for 3 of us at a additional $25. per person, and this consisted of 2 coin size slices of meat. After spending $400.00 for this dinner, we stopped off at McDonald's on the way home to have a fulfilling size dinner. My advice, just go to the observatory to take in the view and then plan on dinner someplace else.

A very good place to dine with great views

Booked the 3-course lunch. The overall dining experience was very good except for a couple minor issues. The bread came without butter. And they also forgot to serve the included leaf salad until we realised it while finishing the mains. One of the water cups had a bad smell to it as well. As for the food, we tried three of the entrees and three of the mains. The entrees (octopus, tomato, beef) were better tasting and more interesting than the mains. The mains were on the salty side (the highlight was perhaps the lamb). The duck was tasty but had a chewy texture. The salmon was well cooked, but we did not like the spices used in the sauce/reduction. The leaf salad was extremely salty. Most of the deserts on the menu unfortunately contained pork-based gelatine hence resorted to the only gelatine-free option - the coconut parfait and sorbet servings. The parfait was delicious and satisfying, so were the sorbets. The coffee flavour was balanced and served at a good temperature. The views were amazing, even from the booth level. The table, restaurant floor and bathrooms were clean. Something that should be mentioned about accessing the venue, one needs to go to level 4 and check in at a desk then wait to be called to the express elevator. Once at the restaurant, seating was swift. Lastly, the ambiance was just right and the service was excellent with the waiter being friendly, prompt and courteous. Overall would definitely go back again.

Fantastic dining experience, delicious food, phenomenal views of Sydney. If you can, go! I went with my parents as part of the end of my semester abroad in New Zealand, and we had a wonderful time.
